Troubleshooting

My upload failed or is stuck

Check the file size against the platform limit and your storage, then try again. Large uploads resume where they stopped if the connection drops.

Updated 23 October 2026

Most upload failures are a file over the size limit, no storage left on your plan, or a dropped connection. Check the message, fix the cause and upload again. A large video upload resumes where it stopped if you retry from the same browser.

Steps

  1. Read the message shown on the upload. It names the limit or the problem.
  2. Check the size. Default limits are 20 MB for images and 4 GB for videos. Some platforms allow less, for example X images up to 5 MB and TikTok images up to 20 MB. A YouTube thumbnail must be under 2 MB. When you upload with platforms already selected, the smallest limit applies.
  3. Check storage. If you see "You've used all ... of storage", delete files you no longer need in Media, add storage in Settings › Billing, or upgrade.
  4. Try again. Large videos upload in chunks and each chunk retries by itself. If the connection dropped, start the same upload again and it continues from where it stopped.
  5. If a video shows as processing for a long time, wait. We convert videos to MP4 after upload, and long or 4K videos take longer. If it never finishes, export the video again as MP4 (H.264 video, AAC audio) and upload once more.

Details

  • Use a wired or stable connection for files over 1 GB. A slow uplink can time out single chunks; the upload retries them.
  • On the iPhone app, large videos upload in chunks and continue where they stopped if the connection drops. Nothing to switch on.
  • A file that uploads fine but fails at publish time is a platform limit, not an upload problem. Open the post and read the reason. See A post failed. How do I see why and retry?.
