Works with all AI agents

Use Dots to run your social media

A Dot is an always-on agent in ChatGPT that keeps working after you close the tab. Connect it to PostEverywhere’s MCP server and your Dot can plan the week, draft posts for your approval, schedule them to Instagram, LinkedIn, TikTok and all top platforms, and fix the ones that fail.

Setup for your Dot

Connect a Dot to PostEverywhere through the MCP server

Dots reach other apps through ChatGPT’s plugins and custom connectors. PostEverywhere is a remote Model Context Protocol server, so the connection is one address and one sign-in. Set it up once in ChatGPT and your Dot can use it on every run, including the ones it starts on its own schedule.

  1. 1

Add PostEverywhere as a custom connector.

In ChatGPT, where you manage the apps your Dot can use, add a custom connector (an MCP server) named PostEverywhere with the address below. Custom connectors sit behind Developer mode; our ChatGPT setup guide shows where to switch it on.

    https://mcp.posteverywhere.ai
  2. 2

    Sign in with PostEverywhere.

Approve access when ChatGPT asks you to sign in. If it asks for a key instead, open the Developers page from the sidebar of your PostEverywhere dashboard (its own menu item, not under Settings), create a key with the read and write scopes, plus ai if your Dot should write captions and make images, and send it as a bearer token.

    Authorization: Bearer pe_live_YOUR_KEY
  3. 3

    Connect your social accounts.

Link each profile once under Accounts in PostEverywhere, or ask your Dot for a connect link and open it on your phone. The link works for ten minutes. After that the Dot can post to that account on every run without asking you to log in again.

  4. 4

Give your Dot its first job.

Start small: “Schedule this to Instagram and LinkedIn tomorrow at 9am.” Once that works, hand it a standing job, like the Monday planning request at the top of this page, and set it to ask before anything publishes.

Which ChatGPT plans include Dots

Dots come with ChatGPT Pro and Business Premium, with one Dot included. On Enterprise, a workspace admin has to approve them first. You create a Dot in ChatGPT on the web or desktop and can talk to it from the mobile app, Slack or Teams. On the PostEverywhere side you need an account on any plan with at least one social profile linked.

What you can ask

Standing jobs to hand a Dot

A chat assistant waits for you to ask. A Dot can be given a job that repeats, so the strongest requests describe a routine: what to check, when, and what to do when something is off. Every request below maps to real PostEverywhere tools.

Ask Dots
  • “Every Monday at 8am, plan the week and draft posts for my approval. Do not schedule anything until I reply yes.”

A weekly plan that waits for you, every week, without being asked.

  • “Each morning, check for posts that failed overnight, tell me why in Slack, and retry the ones that can go out now.”

Failures get caught before your audience notices a gap.

  • “Once a week, check whether all my social accounts can still publish and send me a reconnect link for any that cannot.”

Expired logins are fixed before the next scheduled post.

  • “When I drop a blog link in this chat, turn it into a LinkedIn post, an X (Twitter) post and a Threads post and schedule them across the next three days.”

One link in, a short campaign out.

  • “Every Friday at 4pm, write a short report on how this week’s posts did and send it to me in Teams.”

Analytics from PostEverywhere, delivered where you already read messages.

  • “Keep at least one post a day in my queue for the next two weeks. If a day is empty, draft something from our recent wins.”

The queue never runs dry, and you approve what fills it.

Skills for Dots

Prompts and skills to give your Dot standing orders

Dots learn from feedback over time, but they work best with clear instructions from day one. The prompts below are written the way our published PostEverywhere skills run each job: which accounts, how often, and whether to publish, schedule or save a draft. Paste one into your Dot as a standing instruction, then correct it as you go.

Use the prompts as written

Copy a prompt into your Dot’s chat in ChatGPT. Each one links to the PostEverywhere skill it is based on; those skills also come as a ChatGPT zip on our skills page.

Your calendar

Background work you can see in the foreground

An agent that works while you are away needs a place where its work is visible. Everything your Dot drafts or schedules lands in your PostEverywhere calendar with its accounts, time and status: Draft, Scheduled, Publishing, Posted or Failed. You can open any post in the app and change it, and your team sees the same plan whether or not they use ChatGPT.

Approve in the app or in chat.
Read the Dot’s drafts in the calendar, edit them there, or reply to the Dot and let it schedule them.
No double-booking.
Posts from your Dot share one queue with posts your team wrote by hand.
A trail for every run.
Each post keeps its status and its per-network result, so you can tell what the Dot did and when.

Example data

  • Set it to ask before publishing. Dots follow ChatGPT’s permission rules, and you choose what they do alone and what needs your yes. Let it read and draft freely; require approval for publish and delete.

  • Rate limits per key. The API allows 60 requests a minute and 1,000 an hour per key. A daily routine uses a tiny share; even a Dot stuck repeating a mistake is capped well before it could fill your accounts with posts.

  • Scoped to one workspace. The connection only sees the workspace that approved it. An agency with several clients can give each Dot its own workspace so nothing crosses over.

  • Not a listing in OpenAI’s app directory. PostEverywhere connects as a custom connector you add yourself. Our ChatGPT app has been submitted to OpenAI and is still in review, so do not look for it in the directory yet.

  • Plans on the ChatGPT side. Dots need Pro or Business Premium, or Enterprise with admin approval. Plus accounts can still use PostEverywhere in ordinary ChatGPT chats through the custom connector.

  • Switch it off in seconds. Remove the connector in ChatGPT, or revoke the sign-in or key on the Developers page in PostEverywhere. Posts already scheduled still publish, because they live in PostEverywhere, not in the Dot.

Why give a Dot your posting

What changes when your social media agent never logs off

Most social media work is not writing. It is remembering: noticing the queue is empty on Thursday, spotting the post that failed overnight, chasing the login that expired, sending the Friday numbers. Those jobs are small, constant and easy to forget, which makes them a good fit for an agent that runs on its own schedule with its own cloud computer.

One request, one result per accountExample data

  • It plans before you ask. Give your Dot a weekly routine and it opens the PostEverywhere queue each Monday, compares it with what went out recently, and drafts posts for the gaps. You get a short message with the plan; nothing is booked until you approve.

  • It catches failures early. A post can fail because a file is too big for one network or a token expired. Your Dot can read each post’s per-network results, explain what went wrong in plain words and retry only the network that refused it.

  • It keeps accounts healthy. A Dot can check every linked account’s health on a schedule and send you a reconnect link the day a login lapses, instead of you finding out from a failed launch post.

  • It reports where you already are. You can talk to a Dot from Slack and Teams as well as ChatGPT, so a weekly summary from PostEverywhere analytics can reach you there, without opening a dashboard.

  • It learns your preferences. Dots get better from feedback. Tell yours that LinkedIn posts should be shorter, or that Saturdays stay quiet, and the next plan reflects it, while PostEverywhere keeps the rules that each network enforces.

  • You decide how much it does alone. Start with drafts and approval, then let it schedule routine posts once you trust it. Anything it books can be edited in the social media calendar, and developers can drive the same actions through the social media API.

FAQ

Dots and social media FAQ

Straight answers about plans, platforms and how scheduling works.

What are OpenAI Dots?

Dots are always-on agents in ChatGPT. Each one has its own cloud computer, keeps working in the background around the clock, and learns from your feedback. You create one in ChatGPT on the web or desktop and can reach it from the mobile app, Slack or Teams.

Can an OpenAI Dot post to social media?

Yes, through a connector that can publish. With PostEverywhere added as a custom MCP connector, a Dot can draft, schedule and publish posts to Instagram, LinkedIn, TikTok, X (Twitter), Facebook, Threads, YouTube, Pinterest, Bluesky, Telegram, Discord and WordPress.

How do I connect a Dot to PostEverywhere?

Add https://mcp.posteverywhere.ai as a custom connector in ChatGPT, sign in to PostEverywhere and approve access, then connect your social accounts. If an API key is requested instead, create one on the Developers page in your PostEverywhere dashboard.

Which ChatGPT plans include Dots?

ChatGPT Pro and Business Premium include one Dot. Enterprise workspaces can use them once an admin approves. On other plans, you can still connect PostEverywhere to regular ChatGPT chats with Developer mode.

Will my Dot publish posts without asking?

Only if you allow it. You set whether a Dot acts alone or asks first. We recommend drafts first, with approval required for publishing and deleting, and letting the Dot schedule routine posts once you trust its choices.

Is PostEverywhere an official OpenAI Dots integration?

No. PostEverywhere connects as a custom connector that you add yourself. Our ChatGPT app is in review with OpenAI and is not live yet.

What happens to scheduled posts if I turn my Dot off?

They still go out. Scheduled posts are stored in PostEverywhere, not in the Dot, so pausing or deleting the Dot, or revoking its access, does not cancel anything already booked.

Is there a free trial?

Every plan starts with a 7-day free trial. A card is required to start, nothing is charged on day one, and you can cancel in the first week. There is no free plan; the MCP server your Dot uses is part of every plan.
