Everything PostEverywhere does with Pinterest
Plan the season, make the Pins, pin them to the right board and see what gets saved.
- Plan a season ahead.
- Pins for every board sit in the content calendar, so seasonal content goes out weeks before people search for it.
- Pin titles and descriptions.
- AI Studio writes Pin titles and descriptions and makes 2:3 images to match.
- Every Pin type.
- Publish image Pins, video Pins with a cover, and carousel Pins of 2 to 5 images to any board and section.
- Destination links.
- Add the destination URL and alt text to each Pin, so every save can send traffic back to your site.
- Saves and clicks.
- Analytics shows impressions, saves, Pin clicks and outbound clicks for Business and Creator accounts.
- Your agent pins the batch.
- Ask your AI agent to turn new products into Pins and spread them across the week.
Step by step
How to schedule Pins on Pinterest
To schedule a Pinterest Pin, connect your Pinterest account, upload your image or video, pick a board, add a title, description and destination link, then choose a publish time. PostEverywhere publishes it through the official Pinterest API at that moment.

Upload your Pin.
Add a vertical image (2:3 is the standard), a video with a cover image, or 2 to 5 images for a carousel Pin.
- Choose a board and section. Pick it from the Board menu (refresh it after making a board on Pinterest), then a Section if the board has them. Skip it and the Pin goes to your default board, or your first board if there is no default.
- Write the title, description and link. The Pin Title tops the Pin, the Description is what Pinterest search reads, and the Destination URL is where a click goes.

Straight answers on scheduling Pins, the Pinterest API and planning boards ahead
What people search about scheduling Pins, Pinterest’s API and MCP options and planning a season of boards, answered in full.
Can you schedule Pinterest posts?
Yes. Pinterest’s own scheduler handles one Pin at a time up to 30 days ahead, and PostEverywhere schedules image, video and carousel Pins to any of your boards through the official Pinterest API, with no 30-day cap.
Scheduling does not cost you reach. Pinterest treats a Pin published through its API the same as one made in the app; what moves distribution is the image, the description and how often people save and click, as our guide to how the Pinterest algorithm works explains.
How do I schedule Pins on Pinterest?
On Pinterest, create a Pin on desktop and click the calendar icon beside Publish; in PostEverywhere, upload the image or video, pick a board, add a title, description and destination link, and choose a date or the next queue opening.
Lead time matters more on Pinterest than on most networks. Seasonal searches build 45 to 60 days before an event, so holiday Pins belong in the calendar well before Pinterest’s own 30-day window would let you schedule them. Evergreen tips and launches need one to two weeks.
Is there a free Pinterest scheduler, and is Pinterest’s own one enough?
Pinterest’s built-in scheduler is free; PostEverywhere has no free plan, and every plan starts with a 7-day free trial with full Pinterest scheduling, bulk upload and board selection.
You add a card to start, $0 is due today, and you can cancel before the trial ends; Lite is $9 a month after that (pricing). Among other tools, Buffer’s no-cost option covers three channels with 10 scheduled posts each, Publer’s covers three accounts (Pinterest accounts need at least 100 followers or a verified website), and Planable gives you your first 50 posts free.
The native scheduler is often enough for a few Pins a week on one account. It stops scaling when you want to plan past 30 days, upload a batch at once, run several Pinterest accounts or send the same visual to your other networks.
What is the best Pinterest scheduler, and how does Tailwind compare?
For most people it is PostEverywhere: every Pin gets its own board, section, title, description and destination link, you can bulk upload up to 200 Pins from a CSV or have an AI agent schedule them, and it publishes to all top platforms from the same calendar, from $9 a month.
Tailwind is built mainly around Pinterest, with SmartSchedule and Tailwind Communities, so it suits creators whose traffic comes almost entirely from Pinterest. PostEverywhere suits you when Pinterest is one of several networks or when an agent or the API keeps your Pin queue full. The comparison table and our Tailwind alternatives guide cover the rest.
What types of Pins can I schedule?
Image Pins, video Pins and carousel Pins of 2 to 5 images; anything past five images is dropped.
Every Pin needs media, because Pinterest has no text-only Pin. Idea Pins no longer exist as a separate format, and Product Pins come from a catalog feed rather than a scheduler. Sizes for each are in our Pinterest aspect ratios guide.
Do video Pins need a cover image?
Yes. A video Pin publishes with a cover image you upload in the composer, so the still people see before they tap is the one you designed rather than a random frame.
Video Pins run from 4 seconds to 15 minutes. AI agents cannot set the cover yet, so when an agent schedules a video Pin, open it in the composer and add the cover there.
Can I choose the board, section and destination link for each Pin?
Yes. Each scheduled Pin carries its own Board, Section, Pin Title, Description, Destination URL and Alt Text.
Leave the board empty and the Pin goes to your default board, then your first board. The Destination URL is the only click target, because Pinterest does not pull a link out of the description, and alt text of up to 500 characters helps screen readers. Group boards owned by someone else are not confirmed, so test one with a single Pin before planning a week around it.
Do I need a Pinterest Business account to schedule Pins?
No. Personal and business accounts can both connect and publish; you only need a Business or Creator account to see Pin analytics, and switching is free.
Analytics for those accounts show impressions, saves, Pin clicks and outbound clicks in PostEverywhere Analytics, refreshed through the day, so you can see which Pins sent people to your site and not just which were seen.
Pinterest planner and content calendar: how do I plan a season of Pins?
Plan it in the PostEverywhere content calendar, where every scheduled Pin sits by week or month alongside your other channels and you can drag one to a new day.
There is no official number of Pins per day. A steady few fresh Pins spread across relevant boards is easier to keep up than big bursts, and the Always on queue preset gives you two openings a day to start from. For subjects, our 100 Pinterest content ideas covers ten niches.
Can I schedule Pins from my own code?
Yes. Pinterest has its own official API (version 5), and PostEverywhere’s REST API sits on top of it, so you schedule a Pin with one request and skip Pinterest’s app approval, OAuth and upload work.
With PostEverywhere you connect the Pinterest account once, create a key on the Developers page and send POST /v1/posts with the media, board, title and link. There is no endpoint for listing boards yet, so copy the board ID from the composer or from the board’s URL on Pinterest. The API is on every plan.
The Pinterest API guide lists every field, and our tutorial on scheduling Pins with an API walks through a working request.
Is there a Pinterest MCP server that picks boards and links?
Yes. PostEverywhere’s hosted MCP server lets Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor and other MCP clients schedule Pins through the official Pinterest API, choosing the board and destination link for each one.
It is not made by Pinterest; PostEverywhere runs it on the accounts you connect, on every plan. Your agent can upload an image from a URL, write a search-friendly title and description, and publish, schedule or save the Pin as a draft. Setup is on the AI agents page.
Can ChatGPT or Claude schedule Pins?
Yes. Connect Claude (setup) or ChatGPT (setup) to PostEverywhere and ask for Pins in plain English: “pin these three photos to Gift Ideas next week, one a day, each linking to its product page”.
Name the board in your request so the Pin lands in the right place, and give the product or article page so the agent sets it as the link. Image Pins can go out end to end; video Pins need their cover added in the composer.
Can I auto post Pins to Pinterest in bulk?
Yes. Scheduled Pins publish automatically at their time through the Pinterest API, with nothing to confirm on your phone.
Fill a season at once with a CSV of up to 200 Pins, set queue openings so new Pins take the next free slot, or let the API or an agent add them. Posting the same image to Instagram too? See posting to Instagram and Pinterest at the same time.
How do I manage multiple Pinterest accounts?
Connect several Pinterest accounts, personal or business, to one workspace and pick one per Pin.
Lite includes 2 connected accounts, Starter 5, Growth 10 and Scale 20, counted across every network you connect. On Starter and above, members can submit Pins for approval before they go live.
Seasonal Pin planning
Plan your Pinterest content calendar a season ahead, then drag Pins into place
See every scheduled Pin across all your boards in one visual content calendar. Drag a Pin to a new day, batch a week of recipe or product Pins in one sitting, and let them publish at the times you set. Our content calendar templates help you plan a month in a day.
- Week and month views.
- Plan Pinterest weeks or months ahead and reschedule with a drag.
- Carousel Pins in the mix.
- Slot a 2 to 5 image carousel between single-image recipe Pins, so a step-by-step guide gets room to breathe.
- Posting queue.
- Set your openings once and each new Pin takes the next free one. The presets are general starting points, so adjust them for your niche.

Write Pin titles and descriptions for Pinterest search
Pinterest behaves more like a visual search engine than a feed, so the words on a Pin are doing search work. AI Studio drafts titles and descriptions around the phrases people actually type, and the AI content generator and the free Pinterest caption generator help when you need ideas fast. Short on angles? Browse our caption ideas.
- Search-first descriptions.
- Descriptions written in natural language with the terms a searcher would use, not a social caption.
- Alt Text for every image.
- Describe the Pin image in the Alt Text field so screen reader users get the recipe too.
- Pin graphics on demand.
- Make a Pin image from a text prompt in AI Studio. Pick Portrait 4:5 or Story 9:16 so it suits a tall Pin. See the AI image generator.

Video Pins
Schedule video Pins with a cover image you choose
A video Pin needs a strong still to earn the first tap. Upload the cover image you want in the composer and it publishes with the video, instead of whatever frame Pinterest would pick.
- Your own cover.
- Upload a designed cover with the recipe name or product on it.
- Video length.
- Pinterest takes video Pins from 4 seconds to 15 minutes, as MP4 or MOV.
- Same board and link rules.
- A video Pin still gets a board, a title, a description and a destination link.
Moka pot in 60 seconds Upload ImageBoard, Section, link
Send every Pin to the right Board and Section, with its own Destination URL
A recipe Pin belongs on Coffee recipes, in the Iced drinks section, linking to the recipe page rather than your homepage. Each scheduled Pin carries all three, so a shop account and client accounts can run side by side for agencies and teams without a Pin landing on the wrong board.
- A refreshable board list.
- Made a board on Pinterest this morning? Refresh the Board menu and it appears.
- Nothing fails for a missing board.
- Leave Board empty and the Pin goes to your default board, then your first board, and a board is created for you only if the account has none.
- One link per Pin.
- The Destination URL is the click target; Pinterest does not turn links in the description into one.

Pin analytics
See which Pins get saved and clicked, in Analytics
For Business and Creator accounts, Analytics shows impressions, saves, Pin clicks and outbound clicks for the Pins you publish, so next season’s plan starts from the recipes and products that actually sent traffic. Personal accounts can post but get no analytics, and switching to a Business account is free.
- Outbound clicks.
- See which Pins sent people to your Destination URL, not just which ones were seen.
- Posts tab.
- Sort your Pins by impressions or saves to spot the evergreen ones worth a fresh version.
- Updated every 4 hours.
- Pin numbers refresh through the day, and the Delivery tab lists any Pin that failed with the reason.

Because Pins last, front-loading pays off. Bulk scheduling lets you plan a season of Pins in one session, and our guide to batching Pin creation shows the workflow step by step. Check the right sizes in the Pinterest image sizes guide before you export.
Consistency beats bursts. A few fresh Pins a day, spread across relevant boards, is easier to sustain than fifty on a Sunday, and a Pinterest scheduling tool keeps it going when you are busy. Learn how to stay consistent on social media without burning out, and see best times to post for starting points to test.
Comparing tools? Our Tailwind alternatives guide covers the field. And when a Pin image would work elsewhere, cross-posting sends it on with a version written for each network; read the difference between cross-posting and repurposing.

Or let your AI agent schedule Pinterest for you, board by board
Connect your assistant to the hosted MCP server and describe the Pin: the image, the board, the page it should link to and the day. The agent writes a search-friendly title and description, uploads the media, and either publishes the Pin now, schedules it for the day you named, or saves it as a draft if you ask for one.
Prefer code? The full API is on every plan, with board, title, destination link and alt text settings per Pin. Our guide to scheduling Pins with an API walks through a working request.
- Connect any AI agent.
- Add PostEverywhere to ChatGPT, Claude, Grok, Perplexity, Cursor or any other AI app that supports MCP with one address. It takes seconds.
- Ask in plain English.
- “Pin these three product photos to our Gift Ideas board next week, one a day, each linking to its product page.” Your agent writes every post for you.
- It schedules and publishes.
- Your agent can post now, schedule for later or save a draft for you to review. Every post lands in your calendar, and scheduled posts go out on time through each network's official API.

Pinterest MCP server: your agent picks the board and destination link
PostEverywhere runs a hosted MCP server, so any assistant that supports MCP can schedule Pins to the Pinterest accounts you connect. It is not made by Pinterest; PostEverywhere runs it on your accounts. Setup for every assistant is on the AI agents page.
- Board targeting.
- Name the board in your prompt and the agent routes the Pin there.
- Descriptions written for search.
- Because Pin descriptions are indexed, the agent writes keyword-aware copy rather than a social caption.
- Destination links.
- Give the page and the agent sets it as the Pin’s link, so a Pin drives traffic where you want it.
- Media from a URL.
- Point the agent at an image or video online and it uploads it with upload_media_from_url before scheduling.
- An image is required.
- Pinterest has no text-only Pin, so the agent needs media uploaded or generated before it can schedule. Video Pins need a cover, which agents cannot set, so finish those in the composer.
- Evergreen suits Pinterest.
- Pins can drive traffic long after posting, so ask the agent for evergreen angles rather than time-limited announcements.
