Connecting accounts
Instagram says: log in to instagram.com and follow the instructions. What now?
Instagram has put a security checkpoint on your account. Clear it on instagram.com first, then click Reconnect in PostEverywhere.
Updated 23 October 2026
Instagram has flagged your account with a security checkpoint. Until you clear it on Instagram, no app can publish to the account. Clear it first, then reconnect. Reconnecting before it is cleared fails again.
Steps
- Open a browser and log in at instagram.com with the affected account. Use the Instagram app if the website does not show the prompt.
- Follow Instagram's prompts. It may ask you to confirm your phone number or email, confirm it is you, or change your password.
- When Instagram lets you use the account normally again, go back to PostEverywhere.
- On the Accounts page, click Reconnect on the Instagram account and sign in again.
- Open any failed posts and retry them.
Why this happens
Instagram does this when it sees something unusual: a login from a new place, a password reset, lots of activity in a short time, or reports about the account. It is Instagram's decision and PostEverywhere cannot clear it for you.
