Long-form videos and Shorts in one workspace

Everything PostEverywhere does with YouTube

Plan uploads, write the metadata, publish and measure, without opening YouTube Studio for every video.

Plan uploads and Shorts together.
Long-form videos and Shorts share one content calendar, and Shorts are detected for you from length and shape.
Titles, descriptions and tags.
AI Studio drafts the title, description and tags, then you set category, language and visibility.
Publish on schedule.
Set Public, Unlisted or Private, Made for kids, embedding and license, and the video goes live through the YouTube Data API at the time you pick.
Custom thumbnails.
Add a cover image up to 2 MB on verified channels, or let YouTube pick a frame.
Views, likes and comments.
Analytics tracks every upload; watch time and retention stay in YouTube Studio.
Your agent writes the metadata.
Ask your AI agent for a title and description in your channel's style and it schedules the upload too.

How it works

How to schedule YouTube Shorts and videos from desktop or iPhone

To schedule a YouTube video, connect your channel, upload the file, write the title and description, choose a publish date and visibility, and PostEverywhere publishes it through the YouTube Data API at that moment. Long-form videos and Shorts follow the same steps; a file of 61 seconds or less that is not landscape is recognised as a Short without you flagging it.

  1. Step 1

    Connect your YouTube channel.

Sign in with the Google account that owns or manages the channel. There is no Google Cloud project or API key to set up, and you can connect several channels.

  2. Step 2

    Upload the video.

Add a long-form video (16:9 works best) or a short vertical or square clip. Anything 61 seconds or shorter that is not landscape is detected as a Short automatically, so there is no format switch to remember.

    • Write the metadata. Add a video title of up to 100 characters, a description of up to 5,000 characters and comma-separated tags. Put the search phrase near the start of the title.
    • Set visibility and extras. Pick Public, Unlisted or Private under Visibility, choose a Category, answer Made for kids and, on a verified channel, add a Cover Photo as the thumbnail.
  3. Step 3

    Pick a date and time.

Choose an exact time or the next opening in your posting queue. PostEverywhere publishes through the official YouTube Data API on schedule.

YouTube video and Shorts specs for scheduled uploads

Scheduled uploads follow the same rules as uploads in YouTube Studio, because they go through the YouTube Data API v3. The fields below are the ones you fill in on the YouTube settings panel in PostEverywhere. For aspect ratios and resolutions in more depth, see the YouTube aspect ratios guide.
FieldLimit for scheduled YouTube uploads
Video titleUp to 100 characters
DescriptionUp to 5,000 characters
TagsComma separated, up to 500 characters in total
Long-form video16:9 recommended; YouTube accepts videos up to 12 hours
Shorts61 seconds or shorter and not landscape (9:16 at 1080x1920 is ideal; square and 4:5 also count); detected as a Short automatically
Video fileMP4 or MOV is safest; up to 12 hours and 256 GB
Cover PhotoUsed as the custom thumbnail: up to 2 MB (1280x720 recommended); the channel must be verified
VisibilityPublic, Unlisted or Private

Playlists, Premieres, end screens, info cards and chapters are managed in YouTube Studio. Add them while the video waits for its publish time.

YouTube scheduling, answered

What creators ask before putting YouTube uploads on a schedule

Direct answers on long-form videos, Shorts, thumbnails, settings, pricing, analytics, the YouTube API and AI agents.

Can you schedule YouTube videos?

Yes. PostEverywhere schedules long-form YouTube videos and Shorts from one calendar and publishes each upload through the official YouTube Data API at the time you set, across several channels, and your AI agent can schedule them too.

YouTube Studio also schedules for free, one video at a time: choose Schedule on the visibility step and pick a date and time.

A scheduled upload is an ordinary upload to YouTube. It is ranked on clicks, watch time and return visits like any other, it appears in the Subscriptions feed when it goes Public, and subscribers who turned on notifications for your channel are told about it by YouTube. There is no separate notification switch in PostEverywhere.

How do I schedule a YouTube video?

In PostEverywhere: connect the channel with its Google account, upload the file, fill in the title and description, set visibility and pick a publish time. It works from a desktop browser, a phone browser or the PostEverywhere iPhone app.

  • Video title: up to 100 characters, search phrase first.
  • Description: up to 5,000 characters, with links and timestamps below the first two lines.
  • Tags: comma separated, 500 characters in total.
  • Visibility, Category and Made for kids, plus a Cover Photo on verified channels.
  • A date and time, or the next opening in your posting queue.

How do I schedule YouTube Shorts?

Attach a clip of 61 seconds or less in PostEverywhere and, as long as it is not landscape (vertical, square and 4:5 all count), it is detected as a Short automatically; add the title and description, then pick a time or the next queue opening.

In YouTube Studio on desktop the route is to upload a square or vertical video of up to 3 minutes and choose Schedule instead of Public. Sounds from YouTube's audio library cannot be attached when scheduling, so add them in the YouTube mobile app first and schedule the exported file.

For the bigger picture, read our YouTube Shorts strategy, the best time to schedule YouTube Shorts and YouTube Shorts vs Instagram Reels.

How far ahead can I schedule a YouTube upload?

Any future date works in PostEverywhere, which sets no limit of its own, and YouTube Studio has no fixed window either.

Most creators keep two to four weeks of uploads in the calendar so topics stay timely, and add chapters, cards or end screens in Studio while each video waits.

Can I add a custom thumbnail to a scheduled YouTube video?

Yes, on a verified channel. Attach a Cover Photo of up to 2 MB (1280x720 recommended) in PostEverywhere and YouTube uses it as the custom thumbnail when the video goes live.

On a channel that is not verified yet, YouTube picks a frame for you. An AI agent cannot attach the Cover Photo, so add it in the composer before the release time.

Which YouTube settings can I set when scheduling?

PostEverywhere covers the YouTube details page: Video title, Description, Tags, Visibility (Public, Unlisted or Private), Category and the Made for kids declaration that YouTube requires on every upload.

Advanced options add Embedding, Public stats, Language and License. Each upload keeps its own choices, so a members update can stay Unlisted while the weekly episode goes Public.

Can I schedule YouTube Premieres, playlists or Community posts?

No. PostEverywhere does not create Premieres or add videos to playlists, and YouTube's API has no way to create Community posts at all.

End screens, info cards and chapters are also set in YouTube Studio. PostEverywhere handles the upload itself, with its publish time, Visibility and, on verified channels, the thumbnail, so you can add those extras in Studio while the video is waiting.

What is the best YouTube scheduler for Shorts and long-form?

PostEverywhere suits most creators and teams who want long-form uploads, auto-detected Shorts and Cover Photo thumbnails scheduled by them or their AI agent. The comparison table puts it next to Hootsuite, Buffer, SocialBee, Publer and Sprout Social.

If you run a single channel and post only to YouTube, Studio's own scheduler may be all you need. The case for PostEverywhere is a calendar across channels, bulk CSV scheduling, an agent that writes metadata, and the same video going to TikTok and Reels as well.

Is there a free YouTube scheduler besides YouTube Studio?

YouTube Studio is the free option, one upload at a time. PostEverywhere is paid and has no free plan.

Lite costs $9 a month, Starter $19, Growth $29 and Scale $39. Every plan starts with a 7-day free trial. Signing up takes a card, $0 is due on the day, and cancelling before day seven costs nothing. What each plan includes is on pricing.

Is there a YouTube planner for videos and Shorts?

Yes. The PostEverywhere content calendar is a YouTube planner where long-form videos and Shorts sit side by side by week or month, filtered by channel when you run more than one.

Drag an upload to a new day, or let queue openings give each new Short the next free slot. To fill the empty weeks, start from 100 YouTube content ideas or the free content calendar templates.

What YouTube analytics does PostEverywhere show next to Studio?

The core numbers: PostEverywhere Analytics reports views, likes and comments for every video and Short you publish through it, updated every 4 hours.

Watch time, retention and traffic sources stay in YouTube Studio, which remains the place for deep channel analysis. YouTube metrics and KPIs explains which of them predict growth.

Can I manage several YouTube channels from one dashboard?

Yes. PostEverywhere connects as many channels as your plan allows, from 2 accounts on Lite to 20 on Scale, and filters the calendar by channel.

It suits creators with a main and a second channel and agencies running client channels. Editors join as Admin or Member, so nobody needs the Google password for the channel.

Can I auto post Shorts and videos to YouTube?

Yes. PostEverywhere auto-posts to YouTube through the Data API: the upload goes live at the scheduled time with no browser extension and no reminder to tap.

For a fully automated channel, set queue openings once and every new Short takes the next slot, schedule up to 200 uploads from one CSV with bulk scheduling, or trigger uploads from your own system with the REST API. It is how most faceless YouTube channels keep a daily rhythm.

Can I schedule YouTube uploads from my own code?

Yes. Google's official one is the YouTube Data API v3, and PostEverywhere's REST API sits on top of it, so a single POST /v1/posts request uploads and schedules a video or Short.

Going direct means a Google Cloud project, OAuth consent screen verification, an API audit before uploads can go public, and a daily quota to ration. With PostEverywhere the channel owner signs in once and your code sends the video, on every plan. Fields are in the YouTube API guide, and how to post to YouTube with an API shows a full request.

Is there a YouTube MCP server for uploads?

Yes. PostEverywhere's hosted MCP server at mcp.posteverywhere.ai/mcp lets any MCP client import a video from a link and schedule it to the YouTube channels you have connected.

The agent sets the title, description, tags and visibility, publishes now or later, checks the result and retries a failed upload. Setup per client is on the AI agents page.

Can ChatGPT or Claude upload to YouTube?

Yes, once connected to PostEverywhere. Add the connector in Claude or a custom connector in ChatGPT, share a link to the finished video, and ask for it to go out on Thursday at 5pm.

Asking for three title options first is worth the extra message, since the title carries so much search weight on YouTube. Cursor and other MCP clients work the same way; only the Cover Photo has to be added by you in the composer.

Shorts spotted from the file

Plan your YouTube content calendar with long-form videos and Shorts side by side, Shorts detected for you

See the whole channel at a glance: the weekly long-form upload, the Shorts cut from it, and the gaps in between. A clip of 61 seconds or less that is not landscape is recognised as a Short the moment you attach it, so the Tuesday tutorial and the Thursday cut-down sit side by side without any manual tagging.

No Short-or-video switch.
Orientation and length decide the format, so a quick vertical or square clip never ships as a standard upload by mistake.
Week and month views.
Plan months ahead and spot the weeks where the channel has nothing lined up.
Upload progress in plain sight.
Large files show Uploading, then Publishing, then Posted or Failed, so you know a long video actually reached YouTube.

AI titles for YouTube SEO

Write YouTube titles, descriptions and tags with AI

YouTube search leans heavily on the words in your title and description, so they deserve more than a rushed minute before upload. AI Studio drafts them in Post mode with YouTube’s limits in mind. For quick one-off ideas, try the free YouTube title generator, description generator and tag generator.

Ask for several titles, keep the one with the search phrase up front, and stay inside 100 characters.
Descriptions that do the work.

YouTube requires the audience declaration on every upload, so it travels with the video instead of blocking it later.

Why use a YouTube scheduler

Consistent uploads are what the YouTube algorithm rewards

YouTube’s recommendations reward channels that viewers come back to, and a predictable upload rhythm makes coming back easy. The hard part is not filming, it is publishing on the same days every week while you are busy editing the next video. A YouTube scheduling tool lets you finish a batch in one focused session and release it on the cadence your subscribers expect.

  • YouTube ranks content on several surfaces at once: Home, Suggested videos, Search, Subscriptions and the Shorts feed. Search leans on titles and descriptions, Suggested on what people watch next, and Shorts on whether viewers keep watching or swipe away. Our guide to how the YouTube algorithm works covers each surface, and Traffic sources in YouTube Studio shows which one feeds your channel.

  • Audience retention matters more than almost anything else for long-form videos. Scheduling helps here too: when the upload is already in the calendar, you can spend the extra hour trimming the slow intro instead of racing a deadline.

  • PostEverywhere publishes through the official YouTube Data API v3, so a scheduled video is a normal YouTube upload in every way. For timing, start with our best time to post on YouTube guide and the best time to schedule YouTube Shorts, then adjust to your own audience in YouTube Studio.

  • Daily publishing is how most faceless YouTube channels grow, and it only works when uploads do not depend on someone being at a desk. Set your queue openings once and every new Short takes the next free slot. One upload can also go to TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, X (Twitter), Threads, Bluesky, Pinterest, Telegram and Discord through cross-posting.

Video analytics.
Views, likes and comments for each upload, Shorts included, in one Analytics view.

Connect your AI agent

Or let your AI agent schedule YouTube for you, uploads and Shorts

PostEverywhere is the agentic social media scheduler that works with all AI agents. Once your assistant is connected to the hosted MCP server, it can write the title and description and hand the upload to your channel through the same account your team uses: published right away, scheduled for a set time, or saved as a draft when you ask for one. The full API is included on every plan.

A clip of 61 seconds or less that is not landscape still lands as a Short, because the format is detected from the file. The one thing an agent cannot attach is the Cover Photo, so add the thumbnail in the composer before the video goes Public.

Connect any AI agent.
Add PostEverywhere to ChatGPT, Claude, Grok, Perplexity, Cursor or any other AI app that supports MCP with one address. It takes seconds.
Ask in plain English.
“Schedule this 45-second vertical clip to YouTube for Thursday at 5pm, with three title options and a short description.” Your agent writes every post for you.
It schedules and publishes.
Your agent can post now, schedule for later or save a draft for you to review. Every post lands in your calendar, and scheduled posts go out on time through each network's official API.

YouTube MCP server: schedule uploads from your AI agent

A YouTube MCP server lets an assistant schedule uploads to your channel through the YouTube Data API v3 without you opening YouTube Studio. Connect once, then describe what you want published. Setup for every assistant is on the AI agents page, and API publishing is covered in our guide to posting to YouTube with an API.

Shorts without extra instructions.
Hand the agent a clip of 61 seconds or less that is not landscape and it goes out as a Short; a 16:9 file goes out as a regular video. Nothing to specify in the prompt.
Scheduled publishing in any time zone.
Give a date, time and time zone and the upload goes live on schedule, even when nobody is awake.
Title options before you commit.
Because titles carry so much ranking weight on YouTube, ask the agent for three or four options and pick one before it schedules.
Now, later or a draft.
With no time given, the agent publishes straight away; with a time, it schedules; ask for a draft and the upload waits in your calendar for review. Cover Photos are added in the composer, since agents cannot set them.
Not made by YouTube.
PostEverywhere runs the server on the channels you connect. It publishes only; it does not scrape YouTube or read other channels.

YouTube API

Schedule YouTube from your own code: title, tags and visibility in one upload request

One POST /v1/posts request uploads the video and publishes it through the YouTube Data API v3 at your time, with no Google Cloud project, OAuth verification or upload quota of your own to manage. AI agents send the same body through the create_post MCP tool.
