Scheduling and publishing
What do the post statuses mean?
Scheduled, Preparing, Uploading, Publishing, Verifying, Retrying, Posted, Failed and Draft explained, and what happens when a post is held.
Each platform in a post has its own status. Scheduled means it is waiting for its time. Posted means the platform confirmed it. Failed means it did not publish and the details say why.
Statuses
| Status | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Draft | Saved, not scheduled. |
| Scheduled | Waiting for its time. Also shown while a post is held, see below. |
| Preparing | Checking the content and media before publishing. |
| Uploading | Sending the media to the platform. |
| Publishing | The platform is creating the post. |
| Verifying | Waiting for the platform to confirm the post exists. |
| Retrying | A temporary error. The post will be tried again. |
| Posted | Published. View post opens it on the platform. |
| Failed | Not published. The error is shown under the platform. |
All Posts also shows Processing while a platform is between Preparing and Verifying.
Retries
A temporary error (for example the platform did not answer) is retried automatically, up to 3 attempts, with a growing wait between attempts. A permanent error (for example a caption that is too long, or an account that must be reconnected) is not retried. Fix the cause and click Retry Failed.
Held posts
Some posts wait instead of failing. They stay Scheduled with a note that says when they will go out:
- The account needs reconnecting. The post is checked again daily for up to 7 days and goes out as soon as you reconnect.
- The X (Twitter) posting limit is reached. The post goes out when the window reopens.
Where to see statuses
- Calendar: colour per status. Click a post for the per-platform list.
- All Posts: a status badge per post and a Status filter.
- Post Details: each platform with its status, error and View post link.
Retry a failed post
- Open the post from the Calendar or All Posts.
- Read the error under the failed platform.
- Fix the cause if there is one, then click Retry Failed.
Only the failed platforms are tried again.
