How do I customise a post for each platform?

Write your post once, then click Per platform in the composer. Each platform gets your main post, and anything you change in the Customise per platform window applies to that platform only.

Steps#

1. Click New Post in the sidebar.
2. Click the account avatars at the top to choose where to post.
3. Write your caption and add your media.
4. Click Per platform. The Customise per platform window opens with one tab per account.
5. Click a tab. Change the caption or the options for that platform.
6. Click Done, then Schedule or Publish now.

What each tab shows#

Each tab has a status under the account name:

• Uses main post: this platform gets your main caption and media.
• Customised: this platform has its own caption. Changes to the main post no longer reach it. Click Use main post to go back to the main caption.
• Needs a choice: something on this tab must be fixed before you can publish. The publish button lists what to fix.

Settings are kept per platform, not per account. If you select two Pinterest accounts, both tabs share the same settings. The window says so when this applies.

What you can change per platform#

• Instagram: caption, Post Type (Feed Post, Reels, Story, Trial Reel) and Alt Text for images.
• Facebook: message, Share Link (text and single-photo posts only) and Video Format (Reel or Regular Video). Landscape videos always post as a regular video.
• X (Twitter): text, Who can reply (Everyone, People you follow, Only people you mention), alt text, a community to post in, Label as made with AI, Label as paid partnership, a post to quote, Add poll, and Thread follow-up posts.
• LinkedIn: text, Visibility (Public, Connections Only, LinkedIn Members) and Disable resharing. A company Page cannot use Connections Only.
• TikTok: caption, Who can view this video, Allow users to Comment, Duet and Stitch, and Disclose commercial content.
• YouTube: title, description, tags, visibility, category, playlists and more. See the YouTube article.
• Pinterest: Board, Section, Pin Title, Description, Destination URL and Alt Text.
• Threads: text, who can reply, and under Advanced Settings a Threads Tag (Topic) and a Link Preview URL.
• Bluesky: who can reply, and thread follow-up posts.
• Telegram and Discord: follow-up posts.
• WordPress: switch the post type to Blog post to set the title, status, categories and tags.

Character limits#

The composer shows Too long when your caption is over the limit of a selected platform. Shorten the main caption, or give that platform its own shorter caption in its tab. See the limits article for the numbers.
