What can I set for a YouTube video?
Title, description, tags, visibility, category, made for kids, AI disclosure, playlists and a thumbnail from a cover image. What stays in YouTube Studio.
In the YouTube tab under Per platform you can set everything YouTube lets an app set on upload: title, description, tags, visibility, category, made for kids, AI content disclosure, playlists and a custom thumbnail. A few settings only exist in YouTube Studio.
Steps
- Click New Post, select your YouTube channel and add one video.
- Click Per platform and open the YouTube tab.
- Fill in the title. YouTube requires one.
- Set the other fields and click Done.
Fields
- Title: up to 100 characters. Defaults to the first line of your caption.
- Description: up to 5,000 characters. Defaults to your caption.
- Tags: comma separated, up to 500 characters in total.
- Visibility: Public (default), Unlisted or Private.
- Category.
- Made for kids.
- Custom thumbnail: add a cover image to your video and it becomes the thumbnail. YouTube only allows custom thumbnails on verified channels.
- Altered or synthetic content: the disclosure for realistic AI-made or AI-changed content.
- Add to playlists: pick from your channel's playlists.
Under Show advanced settings:
- Notify subscribers (on by default)
- First comment: posted as your channel right after the video
- Embedding
- Language of the title and description
- License: Standard YouTube or Creative Commons
- Public stats
Playlists and the first comment need the channel to be reconnected once on the Accounts page.
Only in YouTube Studio
Comments, likes, age restriction, paid promotion, Shorts remixing and caption certification cannot be set on upload. Change them in YouTube Studio after the video is published.
Shorts
A square or vertical video of up to 3 minutes is treated as a Short by YouTube. There is no separate Shorts switch.
