iPhone app
Connecting Instagram on an iPhone opens the Instagram app. What now?
On iPhone the Instagram app often grabs the sign-in page, so the connection never finishes. Connect from a computer, or use a Private tab in Safari.
On an iPhone, the Instagram app often opens instead of Instagram's sign-in page, so the connection never completes. This is a known Instagram behaviour, not something you did wrong. The quickest fix is to connect from a computer. On the phone, a Private tab stops the Instagram app from taking over.
Fix it
- Fastest: connect from a computer. Log in at app.posteverywhere.ai, open Accounts and click Connect on Instagram. It takes about 30 seconds. If you are on the phone, use the button on the connect screen to email yourself the link.
- Or use a Private tab on the phone. Open Safari, start a Private tab, go to app.posteverywhere.ai, log in and connect Instagram again. The Private tab keeps the sign-in page in the browser.
- Check your Instagram account type. Instagram only lets apps publish to Professional accounts (Creator or Business). In the Instagram app go to Settings, then Account type and tools, and switch if needed. It is free and you keep your followers.
Why this happens
Instagram's sign-in page is a link the iPhone hands to the installed Instagram app. Once the app opens, the web page never continues, and PostEverywhere never receives the permission. Sometimes it works, sometimes it does not, which is why a computer or a Private tab is the reliable way.
Details
- Instagram connects directly with Instagram's own sign-in (Instagram Business Login). You do not need a Facebook Page for this step.
- X on Android has the same problem: the X app grabs the page. Connect X from a computer.
