Getting started

What is the AI Assistant in PostEverywhere?

A chat panel on the right of the app. Ask what is scheduled, what failed and why, or tell it what to post and it opens a draft for you. Free, no credits.

Updated 23 October 2026

The AI Assistant is a chat panel on the right-hand side of PostEverywhere. Ask it about anything in your account, such as what is scheduled, what failed and why, or what is working, or tell it what to post and it opens a draft for you to check. Chatting with it costs no AI credits.

How to open it

  1. On a desktop browser, click AI Assistant at the top right of any page. The keyboard shortcut is Ctrl+J, or Cmd+J on a Mac.
  2. The panel opens on the right. Type your question in the box, or click one of the suggestions.
  3. Click the X (Close the assistant) to close it, or press the button again. New chat starts over.

The panel is for desktop screens. It does not show on phones or small windows.

What it can do

  • Read your account: scheduled, published, failed and draft posts, why a post failed, which accounts need reconnecting, your posting queue, your best times to post, your analytics summary and your Brand Kit.
  • Start a post for you. Say what you want to post and it opens the composer with the caption, accounts and time filled in. You check it and schedule it yourself.
  • Take you to the right page, for example Calendar, Accounts or Analytics.
  • Hand you to a person. Click Speak to support at the bottom of the panel. The panel closes, the support chat opens, and your last questions are passed along so you do not repeat yourself.

The suggestions change with the page you are on. On the Calendar it offers things like "What's going out this week?" and "Draft a post for Friday morning". On Analytics it offers "What worked best last month?". On Accounts it offers "Do any accounts need reconnecting?".

What it does not do

The AI Assistant never publishes, schedules, deletes or spends money on its own. Every post it starts opens in the composer for you to review first. If you want an assistant that can schedule and publish without you clicking, connect an AI agent such as Claude or ChatGPT instead. See Connect Claude, ChatGPT or Cursor to PostEverywhere.

In the composer

Inside the composer the same assistant appears as Write with AI, in a column beside the editor. There it edits the post on screen: write a caption, make it shorter, write a version for each platform, pick accounts, find a photo in your library or move it to your best time. Each change can be undone. The one-click caption writer is covered in How do I use Write with AI to write or improve a caption?.

Cost and limits

  • Chat is free. It uses no AI credits, on the trial and on every plan. Making an image from the composer still uses credits as usual.
  • Very fast bursts of messages can be paused for a moment, and the panel tells you when to try again. A team shares a limit of 1,000 messages a day. When you reach one, the panel says so and the limit resets.
  • A message can be up to 4,000 characters.

Turning it off

Add ?assistant=off to the end of any PostEverywhere page address to hide the button in that browser. Use ?assistant=on to bring it back.
