Connecting accounts

How do I reconnect an account?

On the Accounts page click Reconnect (or Reconnect Required) next to the account and sign in again. Scheduled posts stay queued.

Updated 23 October 2026

On the Accounts page, click Reconnect next to the account and sign in on the platform again. Your scheduled posts stay queued and go out once the connection is back.

Steps

  1. Open Accounts.
  2. Find the account. An account that needs attention shows a red marker and a Reconnect Required button.
  3. Click Reconnect (or Reconnect Required). Confirm the prompt.
  4. Sign in on the platform and approve PostEverywhere. Pick the same account or Page as before.
  5. The account shows as connected again. Posts that were waiting resume automatically.

Reconnect refreshes the login without removing anything. Posts, history and settings stay as they were. Disconnect is different: it removes the account and cancels its scheduled posts.

Why do accounts need reconnecting?

Platforms give PostEverywhere a login token when you connect. PostEverywhere refreshes tokens in the background, but a platform can still cut the connection when:

  • you changed your password on the platform
  • you removed PostEverywhere in the platform's app settings
  • the platform saw unusual activity and signed everything out
  • the platform's token simply ran out (Instagram, Facebook and Threads tokens last about 60 days)
  • on Telegram, the bot was removed from the channel or lost the permission to post
  • on Discord, the webhook was deleted
  • on WordPress, the Application Password was revoked
  • on Bluesky, the app password was revoked

When reconnecting does not fix it

Sometimes the platform is blocking the account itself, not the login. The Accounts page then shows a specific message instead of a plain "needs reconnection":

  • Instagram security checkpoint: log in at instagram.com and clear the checkpoint first, then reconnect. Reconnecting before that fails again.
  • Facebook identity check: on facebook.com, turn on two-factor authentication and confirm your Page role, then reconnect.
  • Instagram restricted the account: only Instagram can lift it. Check the Instagram app for notices.
  • TikTok banned the account from posting: resolve it with TikTok.

Emails about reconnecting

When a token dies, PostEverywhere emails the account owner once with a link to the Accounts page, and not again for 7 days. If you cannot find it, go straight to app.posteverywhere.ai/accounts.
