AI agents and API
Getting an API key
Create an API key on the Developers page. Use it with the API, the CLI, the SDK or an AI agent that needs a key.
Open Developers in the sidebar (app.posteverywhere.ai/developers), open the API Keys tab and click Create key. Copy the key at once. It is shown only once.
Steps
- Click Developers in the sidebar.
- Open the API Keys tab.
- Enter a Key name, for example "Claude MCP" or "Production".
- Under Permissions, tick what the key may do:
- Read: list and view accounts, posts, results, media, campaigns, webhooks, analytics, and /me.
- Write: create, edit, delete, retry, bulk operations, and webhook subscriptions.
- AI: generate images and captions using AI (uses your plan's AI credits).
- Optional: tick Limit this key to specific accounts and pick the accounts. The key can then only see and post to those accounts.
- Click Create key. Copy the key and store it somewhere safe.
The key starts with pe_live_. Keep it secret. Do not share it in chat or put it in public code.
Using the key
Send it in the Authorization header of every request:
Authorization: Bearer pe_live_your_key_here
The API base address is https://app.posteverywhere.ai/api/v1. A quick test:
GET https://app.posteverywhere.ai/api/v1/me
This returns your team, workspace, plan, scopes and what is left of each quota.
Details
- The key works in the workspace that was selected when you created it. See How AI agents work with workspaces.
- Each team can have up to 10 keys from this page.
- Keys are valid for one year.
- Most AI agents on the Agents page sign in with your PostEverywhere account instead of a key. A key is for automation tools such as n8n, your own code, the CLI in CI, and agents the Agents page marks API key.
Revoking a key
In the API Keys tab, click the bin icon next to the key and confirm. Anything using that key stops working at once.
