AI agents and API
How do I connect Windsurf to PostEverywhere?
Paste the config from the Agents page into mcp_config.json, restart Windsurf, then sign in and approve. No API key needed.
Add the config from the Windsurf card on the Agents page to Windsurf's mcp_config.json, then restart Windsurf and approve the sign-in. No API key is needed.
Steps
- In PostEverywhere, click Agents in the sidebar (app.posteverywhere.ai/agents?agent=windsurf) and choose Windsurf. If you have not connected a social account yet, the page asks you to do that first. Click Connect a social account.
- Click Copy config. The card also shows the config in a box with its own Copy button:
{ "mcpServers": { "posteverywhere": { "serverUrl": "https://mcp.posteverywhere.ai" } } } - Open
~/.codeium/windsurf/mcp_config.json, or create it if it does not exist, and paste the config in. If the file already lists other servers, add only the"posteverywhere"line inside the existing"mcpServers"block. In Devin Desktop the file is~/.config/devin/mcp_config.json. - Save the file, then fully quit Windsurf and open it again. Windsurf reads the file only at startup.
- When Windsurf asks you to sign in, sign in to PostEverywhere. Check the account next to Signed in as, then click Approve.
- Ask Windsurf: "Show me my connected social accounts on PostEverywhere."
The config points Windsurf at PostEverywhere's hosted MCP server, https://mcp.posteverywhere.ai. If you have no plan or trial yet, PostEverywhere asks you to choose one at step 5, then brings you back to Approve. Check Windsurf's own plan for MCP support.
Disconnect
- In PostEverywhere, open Agents and click the Connected tab.
- Find the Windsurf connection and click Disconnect. Click Disconnect again to confirm.
It stops working at once. The list uses the name Windsurf gives itself, so it may read a little differently. Only an owner or admin of your team can disconnect. If you are a member, ask one of them. The same connection is also listed on Developers → API Keys, where the bin icon revokes it.
To remove PostEverywhere from Windsurf too, delete the posteverywhere entry from mcp_config.json and restart Windsurf. To use Windsurf with PostEverywhere again, add the config again, restart Windsurf and sign in.
If it does not connect
Windsurf never asks you to sign in
Windsurf reads mcp_config.json only at startup, so fully quit it and open it again. If it still does not ask, check the file for a trailing comma. A trailing comma makes the whole file invalid, and Windsurf fails quietly.
