Plans and billing
How upgrades, downgrades and proration work
Change plan in Settings > Plans. The change applies straight away and is prorated. A downgrade is refused while you use more than the lower plan allows.
Change plan in Settings > Plans and click Choose plan. The new plan applies straight away. Billing is prorated: an upgrade charges the difference for the rest of your current period, and a downgrade credits the difference against your next invoice. A downgrade is refused while your usage is above the lower plan's limits.
Steps
- Go to Settings > Plans.
- Choose Monthly or Yearly. The toggle starts on your current cycle, so an upgrade never changes a yearly plan to monthly by accident.
- Click Choose plan on the plan you want.
- You come back to Settings with the new plan active. Settings > Billing shows the new plan and your next Renews date.
Only the account owner can change the plan.
Upgrades
- Take effect immediately.
- You are charged the prorated difference for the days left in your current period. Your renewal date does not move.
- Your new limits (accounts, credits, seats, workspaces, storage) are available at once.
Downgrades
- Also take effect immediately, with a prorated credit on your next invoice.
- Before the change, we check what you use today against the lower plan: connected accounts, workspaces, team members (including pending invites) and media storage. If anything is over the limit, the change is refused and a message tells you how many to remove. For example, "You have 7 connected accounts but Starter allows 5. Please disconnect 2 accounts before downgrading."
- Add-ons you hold that the lower plan also sells carry over. Account add-ons are only sold on Scale, so they do not carry to a lower plan.
- AI credits are not checked. A smaller allowance simply starts next period.
Switching monthly and yearly
Staying on the same plan but switching between Monthly and Yearly is also done in Settings > Plans. It is never treated as a downgrade.
During the trial
Switching plans keeps you on the trial. You pay the new plan's price when the trial ends. Activate Early ends the trial and charges the plan now.
Plans bought in the iPhone app
The Plans tab says "Your plan is billed through the App Store". Change it in the PostEverywhere iPhone app, or in Settings > your name > Subscriptions on your iPhone. See Managing a subscription bought through Apple.
