Troubleshooting

My payment was declined. What now?

Pay the open invoice or update your card in Settings > Billing. Scheduled posts keep going while the payment is retried; they stop only if the plan ends.

Updated 23 October 2026

Pay the open invoice or update your card, and your account comes back the moment the payment goes through. Your scheduled posts keep publishing while the payment is retried. They only stop if the subscription is cancelled because the payment never succeeds.

What you will see

  • When you open PostEverywhere you see a Payment issue page instead of the dashboard, with the message "There was a problem with your payment. Please update your payment method to continue."
  • In Settings > Billing your plan shows Past due and a Payment failed alert: "Update your payment method to keep your subscription active."
  • A red strip at the top of the Settings pages says your last payment failed, with a Pay now link for the exact amount.
  • You also get an email from Stripe, our payment provider, and reminder emails from us while the invoice is open.

How to fix it

  1. Click Update payment method on the Payment issue page, or go to Settings > Billing and click Update payment method or Manage subscription. This opens the secure billing portal.
  2. Add a new card, or keep the same card if your bank has now cleared it.
  3. Pay the open invoice. Either use the Pay now link in the app or the email, or let the portal retry the card.
  4. Back in PostEverywhere, click I've fixed it, check again on the Payment issue page. Your account is restored as soon as the payment clears.

If you pay through the Pay now link, the card you use is saved for future payments. See How to change or remove your payment method.

Subscriptions bought through the iPhone app are billed by Apple, not by us. Fix the payment in your Apple ID settings. See Managing a subscription bought through Apple.

What happens if you do nothing

  • Stripe retries the card automatically over the following days.
  • We send up to three reminder emails while the invoice stays unpaid: about 4 hours after the failure, then about 3 days and 7 days after it. Each has the same Pay now link.
  • If the payment still fails after about a month, the subscription is cancelled. Scheduled posts then stop and fail with "subscription is not active". See What happens to my scheduled posts if an account is disconnected or my plan lapses?.

Until then your plan stays active behind the scenes: scheduled posts go out as normal and your AI agents and API keys keep working. The Payment issue page notes this: "Your subscription is still active. Once payment is resolved, you'll have full access again."

Common reasons a card is declined

  • Insufficient funds or a spending limit on the card.
  • Bank verification not completed. Many banks ask you to approve the payment in their app or by text (3-D Secure). Open the Pay now link and complete the check when your bank asks.
  • Too many attempts. Banks sometimes block a card after several charges in a short time. Wait a few hours or use another card.
  • Expired or replaced card. Add the new card in the billing portal.
  • Card does not allow online, recurring or foreign payments. Ask your bank to allow it, or use another card.

If your bank says the payment is fine but PostEverywhere still shows Past due, click I've fixed it again, then contact us with the email on your account. See How do I reach a human?.
