AI agents and API
Use PostEverywhere from Claude Code and other coding agents
Connect Claude Code, Cursor, Codex CLI and other coding agents to PostEverywhere with one command, or add the hosted MCP server by hand.
Run npx @posteverywhere/cli connect in your terminal. It finds the coding agents on your computer and connects them to PostEverywhere's hosted MCP server at https://mcp.posteverywhere.ai. You then sign in once inside each agent.
Steps
- Open a terminal and run:
npx @posteverywhere/cli connect - Tick the agents you want in the checklist. Agents found on your computer are ticked already.
- Finish the sign-in inside each agent:
- Claude Code: run
/mcp, pick posteverywhere, choose Authenticate. - Codex CLI: the login opens your browser. Sign in and approve.
- Gemini CLI: run
/mcp auth posteverywhere. - Cursor and Windsurf: restart the app and sign in when asked.
- Cline: click Authenticate under MCP Servers.
- Zed: sign in when Zed asks.
- Claude Code: run
- Ask the agent something, for example "schedule a post to all my accounts for tomorrow at 9am".
No API key is written to disk. Config files are merged, never overwritten, and a backup copy is made before the first change.
Add it by hand
If you prefer, add the server yourself:
- Claude Code:
claude mcp add --scope user --transport http posteverywhere https://mcp.posteverywhere.ai - Claude Desktop: Settings, Connectors, Add custom connector, paste
https://mcp.posteverywhere.ai. - Cursor: the Agents page in the app has an Add to Cursor button and a JSON snippet for
~/.cursor/mcp.json. - Codex CLI:
codex mcp add posteverywhere --url https://mcp.posteverywhere.ai, thencodex mcp login posteverywhere.
The Agents page (app.posteverywhere.ai/agents) has the steps for every agent, with copy buttons.
Teach the agent the CLI
Agents that can run shell commands can also use the CLI directly. Install the skill:
npx skills add posteverywhere/cli
Claude Code users can add it as a plugin instead, which brings auto-updates:
claude plugin marketplace add posteverywhere/cli
The agent then knows every command: connecting accounts, checking per-platform limits, scheduling, and reading back per-destination results.
Example requests
- "Show me my connected social accounts"
- "Draft three posts about our launch but don't schedule them. I want to review first"
- "Show my drafts, then schedule the second one for Tuesday at 9am"
- "Show my recent posts and their status"
- "Retry the failed post"
Ask for drafts when you want to check posts before they go out. A draft is not published until you or the agent schedules it.
Headless use (CI or a server)
Set a key instead of signing in:
export POSTEVERYWHERE_API_KEY=pe_live_...
Create the key on the Developers page, API Keys tab. See Getting an API key.
