From desktop or iPhone

How to schedule Threads posts from desktop or iPhone, chains included

To schedule a Threads post, connect your Threads profile, write the post, add any media, pick a publish time, and PostEverywhere sends it through the Meta Threads API at that moment. No phone reminder, no tap to confirm. The steps below follow the web composer; the iPhone app lets you schedule and manage posts away from your desk.

  1. Step 1

    Connect your Threads profile.

Open Accounts, choose Threads and sign in to the profile you want to post from. Your Threads handle is the same as your Instagram handle, so have that login ready.

  2. Step 2

    Write the post.

Keep it under 500 characters and open with the line people will reply to. Threads rewards a question or a clear opinion more than a polished announcement.

    • Add media if it helps. Attach one image, one video of up to 5 minutes, or a carousel of up to 10 items. Text-only posts are fine on Threads, so media is optional.
    • Set the Threads options. Add a Threads Tag (Topic) so the post is filed under a subject, and paste a Link Preview URL if you want a preview card under the text.
  3. Step 3

    Pick a time and schedule.

Choose a date and time, or pick Next queue opening and the post takes the next free slot in your posting queue.

Threads content specs and limits: 500 characters, 10-item carousels and five links

A scheduled post follows the same rules as one made in the app, because it is published through the official interface. These are the limits the composer checks before a Threads post is queued; the Threads API documentation has Meta’s full reference, and our Threads image sizes guide covers dimensions.

Threads scheduling, answered

What people ask before they schedule Threads with PostEverywhere

Plain answers on single posts, multi-post chains, media, topic tags, pricing, analytics, the Threads API and AI agents.

Can you schedule Threads posts?

Yes, two ways. The Threads app has a built-in scheduler for single posts, and PostEverywhere adds a calendar, a posting queue, scheduled multi-post threads, several profiles in one place and AI agents that schedule for you, all through the official Threads API.

Scheduling does not change how a post is treated. Posts published through the API are ranked like posts made in the app, on how people respond, so the time you save is best spent replying. How the Threads algorithm works explains the signals.

How do I schedule Threads posts from desktop or my phone?

Connect your Threads profile in PostEverywhere, write the post, add any media and choose a time; it publishes on its own. The composer runs in any desktop or phone browser, and the PostEverywhere iPhone app schedules Threads too.

  • Sign in with the Instagram login your Threads handle shares.
  • Write up to 500 characters, opening with the line people will answer.
  • Attach an image, a video or a carousel, or leave it as text.
  • Add a Threads Tag (Topic) and, if you want a card, a Link Preview URL.
  • Pick a date and time, or Next queue opening.

Can I schedule a multi-post thread on Threads?

Yes, in PostEverywhere. Switch the composer to Thread, add each part with Add Another Post, and the whole chain goes out in order at the scheduled time, each part replying to the one before.

The scheduler inside the Threads app cannot do this, because it only schedules original posts, not replies. Every part has its own 500-character limit, so a long idea becomes a readable chain instead of being trimmed to fit.

Can I schedule images, videos and carousels to Threads?

Yes. PostEverywhere schedules text-only posts, single images, carousels of up to 10 items and videos of up to 5 minutes straight to your Threads profile.

Images can be up to 30 MB each and a video up to 250 MB, one video per post. Text-only posts are welcome on Threads, so media is always optional.

How do topic tags, link previews and Who can reply work on scheduled Threads posts?

In PostEverywhere each Threads post can carry one Threads Tag (Topic), which files it under a subject people browse, and a Link Preview URL, which decides which page gets the card under your text.

A post can hold up to 5 links. If you leave the Link Preview URL empty, Threads builds a preview from a link in the text itself. Topic tags replace the long hashtag blocks used elsewhere, so pick the one subject that fits best.

The same panel has Who can reply, so an announcement can take replies only from accounts you follow or accounts you mention, while a question stays open to everyone.

How far in advance can you schedule a Threads post?

PostEverywhere sets no cut-off of its own, as long as the time is in the future, so you can plan Threads posts weeks or months ahead in one view and change them any time before they go out.

In the Threads app the limit is 75 days ahead: tap the three-dot menu in the composer, choose Schedule, and pick a date and time.

Where do I find my scheduled Threads posts?

In PostEverywhere they appear in the calendar and under All Posts with the Scheduled status, where you can edit, move or delete them until they publish.

Posts scheduled inside the Threads app sit in your drafts folder there instead.

Can I schedule Threads posts for free?

Only the scheduler inside the Threads app is free. PostEverywhere has no free plan; plans start at $9 a month for Lite.

Every plan starts with a 7-day free trial. Starting it takes a card, nothing is billed that day, and cancelling before it ends costs nothing, so you can test scheduled threads, the shared calendar, the queue and agent scheduling on your own profile first. See pricing for what each plan includes.

Is there a Threads planner for posts and chains?

Yes. The PostEverywhere content calendar works as a Threads planner: single posts, carousels and whole multi-post threads sit on their days by week or month.

Drag one to a new day, or let queue openings place each new Threads post in the next free slot. For material, borrow from 100 Threads content ideas, and for strategy read the Threads marketing playbook.

Which Threads profiles get analytics in PostEverywhere?

For Threads profiles connected since 30 August 2026, PostEverywhere Analytics reports views, likes, replies, reposts and quotes for each post, refreshed every 4 hours.

Profiles connected before that date publish normally but do not report post numbers. Threads metrics and KPIs covers which of them to watch.

Can I manage multiple Threads accounts?

Yes. Connect several Threads profiles to PostEverywhere and switch between them in the composer and calendar.

Lite includes 2 connected accounts, Starter 5, Growth 10 and Scale 20, counted across every network you connect, so a personal profile, a brand profile and client profiles fit side by side.

Can I auto post Threads chains on a schedule?

Yes. PostEverywhere auto-posts to Threads: posts and chains publish through the Threads API at their time, with no phone notification to tap.

Fill queue openings once, upload a month by .csv with bulk scheduling, call the REST API, or let an AI agent draft and schedule. To reuse a post elsewhere, see posting the same thing to X and Threads and posting to Instagram and Threads at the same time.

Can I schedule Threads posts from my own code?

Yes. Meta publishes an official Threads API, and PostEverywhere's REST API sits on top of it, so one POST /v1/posts request publishes or schedules a Threads post, carousel or full chain.

Building on Meta's API yourself means a Meta app, its review for publishing permissions, and long-lived tokens to keep refreshed. With PostEverywhere the profile owner connects once and your code sends the post, on every plan. The Threads API guide lists the fields, and posting to Threads with an API walks through it.

Is there a Threads MCP server, and is it made by Meta?

Yes. PostEverywhere's hosted MCP server at mcp.posteverywhere.ai/mcp lets Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor and other MCP clients write and schedule Threads posts through the official Threads API, on every plan.

It is not made by Meta; PostEverywhere runs it on the accounts you connect. Setup for each client is on the AI agents page.

Can ChatGPT or Claude write and post a Threads chain?

Yes, once connected to PostEverywhere. Add the connector in Claude or a custom connector in ChatGPT, paste your notes, and ask for a Threads post or a five-part chain for tomorrow morning.

The assistant keeps each part inside 500 characters and posts now, schedules, or saves a draft so you can read the chain in order. A live Threads post cannot be changed through the API, so a draft is the careful option for anything important.

Threads within Threads

Can you schedule Threads posts natively? Single posts yes, a full multi-post thread no

The scheduler in the Threads app queues one original post at a time. In PostEverywhere, pick Thread in the composer, add each part with Add Another Post, and the whole chain publishes in order at the scheduled time, every part linked as a reply to the one before.

Each part stands alone.
Every post in the chain has its own 500-character limit, so write each part to make sense when quoted.
One entry in the calendar.
The whole chain sits on its day as one scheduled post you can move or edit.
Published in order.
The opener goes first and each follow-up replies to it, so the thread reads top to bottom.

Why schedule Threads

Schedule Threads posts for a consistent daily presence in the conversation

Threads grew out of Instagram, so a new profile starts with a ready-made audience, but the feed still favours accounts that show up regularly and get people talking. Posting when inspiration strikes means three posts on Monday and silence until Friday. Batching a week of posts in one sitting, then letting them go out on a steady rhythm, keeps you in the feed without living in the app. Set up your profile first with the Threads bio generator, and check your handle with the Threads username checker.

  • Threads is a first-class account here. PostEverywhere is a social media scheduler for creators, brands and agencies: bulk schedule posts, images and videos weeks ahead, and developers can publish from code with the Threads API guide or our walkthrough on posting to Threads with an API.

  • Scheduling frees you up for the replies. The part of Threads that cannot be automated is the conversation, so when the post is already written and queued, the time you would have spent drafting goes into answering the people who respond, which is what the ranked feed rewards. Learn how ranking works in our guide to how the Threads algorithm works, and use the best time to post on Threads as a starting point for your queue slots.

  • Threads has its own register. A line that reads well here is usually more casual than you would post elsewhere, so the same message is worth rewriting rather than copying. When you do want one idea on several networks, cross-posting sends it everywhere with a custom version for each, and our aspect ratios reference shows how images crop on Threads.

Or let your AI agent write and schedule your Threads posts

Connect your assistant to the hosted MCP server once and it can write a Threads post in your voice, check the 500-character limit, and post it now, schedule it for the slot you name, or save a draft for you to review. Ask for a multi-part thread and it writes every part, then posts it now, schedules it, or saves it as a draft so you can read the chain in order first. It publishes through the same Threads account your team already connected.

Builders get the same thing as code: the full API is included on every plan (see the Threads API guide).

Threads MCP server: your agent writes the whole chain

PostEverywhere runs a hosted MCP server, so any assistant that supports MCP can publish to the Threads profiles you connect. It is not made by Meta; it is our server, acting only on your accounts. Setup for every assistant is on the AI agents page.

Text-first by default.
Threads accepts text-only posts, so a quick take from your agent needs no image before it can be scheduled.
Rules checked first.
The agent reads the Threads limits with get_platform_rules before writing, so posts land under 500 characters.
Threads, not just posts.
Ask for a five-part thread and the agent writes every part to the limit; the thread goes out now, at the time you name, or as a draft if you would rather set the time yourself.
Now, later or a draft.
The agent can publish a Threads post straight away, schedule it for a time you name, or save it as a Draft for you to check first.
Ask what is coming up.
Questions such as "what is scheduled on Threads this week?" are answered from your real calendar.
Any MCP client.
Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor and other MCP clients connect with the same connector address and your PostEverywhere sign-in.
