Troubleshooting
Instagram keeps failing even after I reconnected
Read the reason on the post. Usually an Instagram security checkpoint, a Personal account, or an Instagram no longer linked to its Facebook Page.
Open the failed post and read the reason under the Instagram account. Reconnecting only fixes an expired login. The three common causes that survive a reconnect are a security checkpoint on Instagram, an account switched to Personal, and an Instagram account that is no longer linked to its Facebook Page.
Steps
- Open the post from Calendar or All Posts and read the Instagram reason.
- Match it below and fix the cause.
- Click Retry Failed.
Causes
"Instagram has flagged this account with a security checkpoint"
- Log in to instagram.com in a browser with that account.
- Follow Instagram's prompts until you can use the account normally.
- Open Accounts in PostEverywhere and click Reconnect. Then retry the post.
Reconnecting before the checkpoint is cleared fails again.
"Your Instagram account is set to Personal"
Instagram only lets apps publish to Business or Creator accounts.
- In the Instagram app, switch your account to a professional (Business or Creator) account. It is free and you keep your followers.
- Retry the post.
"This account needs to be reconnected, its connection to the platform was lost"
The link between your Instagram account and its Facebook Page was removed on Meta's side, or Page permissions were lost.
- In the Instagram app, check in your professional account settings that a Facebook Page is linked.
- Open Accounts, click Reconnect, and log in to Facebook as the person who manages that Page. On Facebook's screen, approve all permissions and tick the Page and the Instagram account.
- Retry the post.
"You're posting too frequently"
Meta temporarily blocked this account for posting too often. Wait an hour or two, then retry. Space posts out.
Media reasons
Instagram allows up to 30 hashtags. Videos must finish processing on Instagram's side; large or 4K videos can take a long time, so export at 1080p if a video keeps failing with a processing message.
Still failing
