Updated 23 October 2026
Connect an Instagram Business or Creator account and publish feed posts, carousels, Reels, Stories and Trial Reels. Every post needs an image or a video.
Connect
- Switch your account to Business or Creator in the Instagram app (Settings, Account type and tools). See Why do I need an Instagram professional account.
- Open Accounts and click Add Account next to Instagram.
- Sign in to Instagram and approve everything it asks for.
No Facebook Page is needed.
What you can post
| Limit | |
|---|---|
| Caption | Up to 2,200 characters, at most 30 hashtags |
| Images | 1 to 10 per post (carousel), JPG or PNG, up to 30 MB, at least 320 x 320 |
| Video | 1 per post, 3 seconds to 15 minutes, MP4 or MOV, up to 500 MB |
| Text only | Not allowed |
Every video publishes as a Reel, a Story or a Trial Reel. Instagram no longer has a separate feed video type.
Post Type
Open Customise per platform and the Instagram card. Post Type offers:
- Feed Post: one image or a carousel of up to 10 images.
- Reels: a video in the Reels format. Vertical 9:16 works best.
- Story: one image or one video. Disappears after 24 hours. No carousel.
- Trial Reel: shown to non-followers first, and Instagram promotes it to your followers if it does well.
Other settings
- Caption: your text for Instagram.
- Alt text for images, for accessibility.
First comments are not available on Instagram. They work on X (Twitter) and YouTube. Tagging people, collaborators and locations are not available.
Media tips
- Reels and Stories must be vertical (9:16). Feed images can be 4:5, 1:1 or 1.91:1.
- Videos take a moment to process on Instagram's side after upload.
- Keep hashtags to 30 or fewer, or Instagram refuses the post.
Troubleshooting
- "Log in to instagram.com and follow the instructions": Instagram has put a checkpoint on the account. Clear it on instagram.com first, then Reconnect. See Instagram checkpoint.
- Posts fail right after reconnecting: check the account is still Business or Creator, and that you reconnected the same account.
- Story with several images fails: Stories take a single image or video.
