Connecting accounts
My account says Reconnect required again after I reconnected. Why?
Either the platform is blocking the account itself (checkpoint, identity check, restriction), or you reconnected a different account. Here is how to tell.
If Reconnect Required comes back right after you reconnected, one of two things is happening. Either the platform is blocking the account itself, so a fresh login changes nothing. Or you reconnected a different account or Page than the one that was flagged. Read the message on the account first. It names the cause.
1. Read the message on the Accounts page
Hover the red marker, or open the account, to see why it is flagged.
| Message says | What to do |
|---|---|
| Instagram security checkpoint | Log in at instagram.com and follow Instagram's prompts to clear the checkpoint first. Then click Reconnect. Reconnecting before that fails again. |
| Facebook: Page admin with two-factor authentication | On facebook.com, turn on two-factor authentication for the Facebook account you connect with, and confirm it has an admin, editor or moderator role on the Page. Then reconnect. |
| Instagram has restricted this account | Only Instagram can lift it. Check the Instagram app for notices. Reconnecting does not help. |
| TikTok has banned this account from posting | Resolve it with TikTok. |
| This account needs to be reconnected | The login token is dead. Reconnect, and make sure you pick the same account or Page. |
2. Make sure you reconnected the same account
Platforms sign in whichever account your browser is already using. If your browser was signed in to another Facebook profile, X account or TikTok account, the reconnect added that one instead, and the flagged account stays flagged.
- Log out of the platform in your browser, or use a private window.
- Sign in as the right account.
- Click Reconnect on the flagged account in PostEverywhere.
For Facebook, tick the same Pages on Facebook's screen. If a Page is missing from the list, PostEverywhere tells you and asks you to choose Edit previous settings on Facebook's screen.
3. Check the platform's own app settings
If you removed PostEverywhere's access in the platform's settings, the token dies again at once. Look in Facebook Settings > Business integrations, Instagram > Apps and websites, or the equivalent, and allow PostEverywhere.
4. Password changes and security events
Changing your password or getting signed out everywhere on a platform kills every connected app's login. A single reconnect fixes it. If it keeps happening, the platform may be flagging the account for unusual activity. Keep posting at a normal pace and avoid connecting and disconnecting many times in a row.
