The best time to post on X (Twitter) is between 9 AM and 3 PM on a weekday, in your local time. In our data from more than 1,000 posts on X scheduled with PostEverywhere, posts at lunchtime (noon to 3 PM) did 13% better than the same account's usual post, and late-morning posts did 9% better. Evenings and overnight were the weakest times.
This guide is part of PostEverywhere's Best Time to Post Study 2026, an original data study of 1,000+ posts on X scheduled with PostEverywhere, built on our own data rather than other people's studies.
Every number comes from posts on X that businesses and creators published through PostEverywhere between December 2025 and October 2026, each one compared with the same account's usual results. X is one of our smaller samples, so treat this as early data: the time-of-day pattern is clear, but the day-by-day differences are small and could shift as more results come in. The method is explained at the end.
Best time to post on X (Twitter), day by day
"Lift" is how much better posts did than the same account's usual post. All times are the poster's local time.
| Day | Day overall | Best time to post |
|---|---|---|
| Monday | +1% | 9 AM-3 PM |
| Tuesday | -1% | 9 AM-3 PM |
| Wednesday | -5% | 9 AM-3 PM |
| Thursday | +14% | 9 AM-3 PM |
| Friday | -6% | 9 AM-3 PM |
| Saturday | -4% | 10 AM-2 PM |
| Sunday | +9% | 10 AM-2 PM |

On X, the time of day matters more than the day of the week. Late morning and lunchtime beat every other part of the day, and each part of the day below has more than 100 posts behind it, so we use that window for every day.

PostEverywhere suggests the best times to post on X as you schedule. Pick one of the suggested slots, or let your posting queue and AI agents fill them for you. See how best-time suggestions work.
Best time of day to post on X
Across all the posts, from best to worst. Every part of the day has more than 100 posts behind it.
| Time of day | Lift vs the account's usual post |
|---|---|
| Lunchtime, noon-3 PM | +13% |
| Morning, 9 AM-noon | +9% |
| Afternoon, 3-6 PM | +4% |
| Late evening, 9 PM-midnight | +2% |
| Early, 5-9 AM | -7% |
| Evening, 6-9 PM | -7% |
| Overnight, midnight-5 AM | -17% |
The shape is simple: X does best while people are at work and checking in between tasks, from mid-morning through lunch. Posting before 9 AM did slightly worse than usual, and the evening and overnight were the worst parts of the day.
Best time to post on X today
On a weekday, post between 9 AM and 3 PM, and if you only post once, aim for noon to 1 PM. On a weekend, the same late-morning to lunchtime window is the safest bet, though we have fewer weekend posts to go on.
If your audience lives somewhere else, post for their working day, not yours. A US audience at noon Eastern is 5 PM in London and 10:30 PM in India, so a team in Mumbai or Manila posting for American followers should plan its posts with a scheduler rather than stay up for them.
To set a tweet or thread for one of these slots, follow our guide to scheduling tweets and threads.
Best time to post on X on Monday
9 AM to 3 PM. Monday is about average overall. Get your post out in the morning or at lunchtime; Monday evening was among the weakest times of the week.
Best time to post on X on Tuesday
9 AM to 3 PM. Tuesday overall was flat, so stick to the weekday window, with lunchtime the safest slot.
Best time to post on X on Wednesday
9 AM to 3 PM. Wednesday came out a little below average across the whole day, so keep your strongest post for Thursday and post on Wednesday in the late morning.
Best time to post on X on Thursday
9 AM to 3 PM. Thursday was the best day in our data, 14% better than an account's usual post, so it is the day for your most important post of the week.
Best time to post on X on Friday
Friday was slightly below average, 6% under an account's usual post. Post in the late morning or at lunchtime, before people switch off for the weekend.
Best time to post on X on Saturday
Saturday was slightly below average. If you post at the weekend, late morning to lunchtime is the safest window, in line with the rest of the week.
Best time to post on X on Sunday
Sunday did 9% better than usual, the second-best day in our data, on a small sample. It is worth testing a late-morning Sunday post if your audience follows you for news, sport or hobbies rather than work.
Why the middle of the day works on X
X's timeline moves faster than any other feed. A post competes with everything posted after it, so it has to pick up replies, reposts and likes quickly or it slides out of sight.
X has published the code behind its recommendation system on GitHub, and engagement from other people is what decides whether a post is shown beyond your followers.
X's help centre explains that the For you timeline mixes posts from accounts you follow with recommendations, ranked by a model trained on likes, reposts and replies, while the Following tab shows posts newest first.
X's engineers describe the same pipeline in their write-up of the recommendation algorithm. Either way, a post needs people around to engage with it soon after it goes out.
A post at 11 AM or noon meets people when they are awake, at a screen and taking a break, which is when the early engagement comes fastest. A post at 2 AM sits unseen until morning, by which time newer posts have buried it.
Our guide to how the X algorithm works covers the other ranking signals.
X's audience is also smaller and more news-driven than most. Pew Research found that 25% of US adults use X, compared with 70% for Facebook. With fewer people around at any hour, posting while they are online matters more.

Threads, replies and how often to post
Timing is only one lever on X. Two others matter as much:
- Threads stretch the window. A thread posted at 11 AM keeps picking up readers through lunchtime as people work through it. PostEverywhere can post threads on X as one scheduled post, with every follow-up in order.
- Replies count. Answering replies in the first hour keeps the conversation going and brings more people into it, so post at a time when you can also be around.
Most accounts do best posting several times a day on X, more than on any other network, because each post has such a short life. Spread them across the late morning and lunchtime rather than bunching them up, and split longer ideas into a thread (PostEverywhere schedules X threads too).

How we worked this out
- The posts: more than 1,000 posts on X published through PostEverywhere between 21 December 2025 and 22 October 2026, from accounts with at least 15 posts that had results.
- The measure: each post's impressions or engagement, collected at least three days after it went out, compared with the median of the same account's 20 nearest posts. A post scoring +50% did half as well again as that account usually does.
- The times: the poster's local day and hour, from their PostEverywhere profile. Accounts still on the default time zone were left out, because we can't tell when their posts really went out.
- The limits: this is one of our smaller samples, so we give broad windows rather than single hours, and we will update this page as more results come in. What you post matters more than when you post it.
